All dead people have two things in common: their hearts don’t beat and they don’t breathe.
Wow, what a grim opening to a writing. What’s so special about those two features though? All dead people also don’t eat, they don’t smile, and they don’t talk. The common trait that makes heart beating and breathing so fundamental to life is that it is something that we unconsciously do.
Yes, we can increase our heartbeat by exercising and we can lower it by relaxing. We can intentionally breathe in different paces. But even when we’re sleeping, the heart beats and we breathe. That’s the difference between sleeping and being dead, although they look very similar to the naked eye at first.
For an organic body life is heartbeat and breath. But what about for business? When you aren’t doing anything with your business, is it beating its heart? Is it breathing its breath?
If the only time people get to know about you or your business is when you talk about it every once in a while, your business will seem like it has a choppy movement sort of like a zombie. There are too little frames to make a smooth motion of a breath or a heartbeat.
Talking about your business, talking in the spirit of your business in your day to day life — now that is life. Not only will your business have a life of its own, but it will also start planting the seeds of itself onto other people’s hearts and when they think of you and your business, they will think of their internal experiences with it.
Talking about, talking in your business is great, but you know what’s even better? Offering in your business. No, I’m not talking about the one-dimensional matter of asking people to buy something from you (although that is extremely important). I’m talking about every hello, every how are you, every interaction you do with people being an offering from your business.
This May, I want to invite you to May You Offer: a month-long training where you offer in your business 108 times. This sounds ridiculous, but May has 31 days and it’s definitely more than possible to offer in your business 3-4 times a day. This sounds hard, but something being hard is not a reason for you to not do it. This sounds vague and confusing, but you have me to explain what will happen in the training.
Before May 1st you will get a detailed written activity guide, video guide, and a specific set of instructions on what to do every day. You will join my communication platform to discuss with me and your peers on how you are feeling into your business.
