What's up friend?
How do I talk about all the 10 million things going on in my life? I guess I have to talk about them one at a time.
Today I worked with a client on a demo of my technology services. It's sort of easy to explain when I frame the service as a "launch your new website", but it's actually such a small part of what the service is actually about.
(In Korean we call such small things "dirt lodged in a bird's toenail" lol)
I have a bit of a knee injury right now. Oh man, if only I had functional knees! I'd run! And if I could have a great cardio with running, then I'd surf endlessly! And if I could do that, I'd book a surf retreat to Australia!
So you see, when you get something of your passion it always leads to the next passion that's allowed by the previous milestone. This is how we build things.
This is why chronic diseases are so debilitating. It feels like it robs you of that opportunity to dream, because that dream ends up hurting you; you're never going to get better. So the mind stops dreaming. We'll talk more about this particular case some other time.
My client started the demo session by talking about their website.
'We'll launch that when it's 100% ready... Okay... But Billy mentioned that he can work on webapps or online experiences. So perhaps he could do something like this?'
So they shared with me some things that were on their mind. A shareable list of venues in their city that acted as a searchable database for the right venue for how they were feeling at the time. A "rolodex card" for endorsing people's skillsets.
Most of these ideas sit in the idea pile for a few weeks until they get a demo of the idea that doesn't really resemble what they had in mind. But I showed my client the demo in about 10 minutes.
I love seeing this part. "This part" not really being the part where they go "omg that's so cool!", but the part where after they calm down, they go "wait, this means I can also do XYZ?" and their eyes glow up like they've seen Santa Claus for the first time.
We ended the call in excitement. A passion for the business that they always wanted to have was rekindled. It never goes away, it's never completely forgotten; but it just becomes harder and harder to access with limitations constantly gatekeeping it.
