I'm reporting back with your results...

Two days ago I provided a quiz you can take to see if my upcoming content creation program, The Middle Way, would be of use for you. I replied to everyone who took the quiz as of right now, but I gathered some meta-data about this quiz and I thought it would be interesting to share and discuss today.

I recently had a big plumbing job that cost 17,000$. The plumbers made that much in the span of 3 days. Now, that’s a pretty good job and does this mean everybody should be a plumber? You could pay me double that and I couldn’t imagine doing what the plumbers did.

Just like this, not everybody needs to be a content creator. But just like how a plumber may have some characteristics of plumber-affinity, content creators will have a natural pull towards an urge to not only create something but to share it with the world.

This looks pretty even across the board, and there are 2 talking points here. First: if you feel like creating all the time, then you would imagine that you’d be creating all the time. But you’ll find in the next graphic that this isn’t necessarily the case. Secondly, there are people who don’t feel the urge but still clicked and answered this quiz because something about the program must feel enticing. What would that be? Let’s keep going.

You see that even though there are people who feel the urge to create daily, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they create daily. Now take a look at the shape of the next graph:

The frequency of sharing is even less than the frequency of creation. So now what if I proposed another question, “how often have you shared your creation intentionally to a certain audience” then it would be an even smaller sample size.

This tells us something. There’s a great loss of energy that trickles down, where on the top of the mountains there is this great spring of inspiration and the water is cool and refreshing. But along the waterfalls so much water is lost that just a few hundred meters away from the top, there’s barely any water left.

What could be responsible for this loss? Let’s take a look at some of those options.

Very few find the creative process on the easier side, the majority falls under creation feels like pulling hair. What else could be responsible for making creation feel so hard? We all know implicitly what we create has to be seen by somebody to make any kind of an impact. How do we feel about being seen?

For being seen by best friends, the median is 8. For being seen by strangers, the median is also 8. But for being seen by family the median is 4 and for being seen by colleagues the median is 5. We have a resistance for being seen by certain people, and of course that will hinder the creative process for sure.

There is one question remaining from the beginning. If there is no natural urge to create… Then why create? This question reveals why:

Your livelihood depends on your creation. This puts you in a really precarious situation, almost like being forced to create because you have no natural pull or you experience the pull very rarely, but the demand for money is constant.

Considering all of this, I would say that the creative process for the majority of people (who took this quiz at least) is a stressful, suffering-filled process. But luckily for you, I’m not just a guy who’s going to teach you content creation so it’s easy and guaranteed to succeed (spoiler: no such thing exists), I’m a guy who’s going to teach you how to be happy creating content even if it feels difficult at times. Isn’t that crazy?

This is a powerful transformation you will experience. Until now you’ve seen a lot of my own opinions and arguments about the creative process but this is data collected from actual people. What’s at stake here though? Is it that urgent, is it that important? Let me share with you the answer to the question “what is your BIG creative dream?”.

Many replied that they want to write a book. I happened to have written many books and I know this dream feels so far away, so far fetched… But it is 100% possible to write a book before the end of this year. I would even wager that you can finish the book by the end of this PROGRAM.

Think about that for a second. You can have the book, that you’ve dreamed of as the big creative project, in your hands by the end of this year. And that will just be the starting point for your creative endeavors because I’m going to build you up for so much more down the line.

We’re staring next week and I would love for you to join today. Everything I’m sharing recently is to make the decision easier for you. Maybe you’ve already decided you don’t want to participate already. Unfortunately I’m not a fortune teller and I happen to be on the hesitating side fairly often, so I’ll err on the safer side and help you decide.

I also spoke with the co-teacher Michelle today to give you more information. Check the video out:
